With a long-standing legacy rooted in authenticity and refinement, Bushmills needed more than just a display box — they required a luxury unboxing experience worthy of their brand.

Our goal was to design custom wooden presentation boxes that would not only elevate the visual appeal of their whiskey collection but also showcase their brand values through a mix of innovation, tradition, and sophistication.

Bespoke Hexagonal Packaging Design – Dual Compartments for Premium Gifting

The standout feature of this premium packaging project was the hexagonal structural design, chosen to reflect the geometry of traditional cooperage while offering something visually unique. Inside, we engineered dual compartments for form and function:

  • Lower Drawer: Pulls out to reveal a custom honeycomb card fitment, carefully cut to hold four branded whiskey glasses, keeping them safe during transit while enhancing display value.
  • Upper Compartment: A platform held four mini hexagonal FBB (folding box board) cartons — three designed to house colour-coded whiskey bottles, and the fourth containing another miniature bottle alongside branded drawstring bags filled with sensory whisky-themed contents like barley grains, reinforcing the craftsmanship narrative.

This multi-layered internal layout enhanced the storytelling of the Bushmills brand while also guiding the user through an intentional and enjoyable unboxing journey.

Premium Materials and High-End Finishing Touches

We used high-grade materials and finishings to bring out the luxury Bushmills is known for:

  • Exterior: Wrapped in textured specialty paper with foil detailing, exuding elegance and tactile appeal
  • Interior: Fully printed in full-colour on uncoated paper stock for a warm, natural feel
  • Magnetic closures: Four hexagonal side panels sealed with magnets, keeping the structure neat and secure
  • Digital padlock: A secure and modern feature on the main door that added an element of exclusivity
  • Branded ribbon pulls: Coordinated ribbon detailing added ease of use and an extra layer of class
  • Coloured ribbons and tabs: Matched to the bottles inside to create an intuitive and visually appealing experience

This combination of structural integrity and rich sensory detail made the presentation box both a functional piece of packaging and a collector’s item — something to be kept, displayed, and remembered.

The completed Bushmills wooden presentation boxes were a resounding success — received with praise for their innovative construction, thoughtful use of materials, and immersive packaging design.

The inclusion of whiskey glasses, drawstring bags, and colour-coded mini bottle boxes created an emotional and multi-sensory connection between the recipient and the Bushmills brand.
