The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) is one of the UK’s most respected charities, committed to saving lives at sea through a network of lifeboat stations, volunteers, and public support. As part of their ongoing fundraising efforts, RNLI needed a practical yet visually compelling way to distribute merchandise and collect donations — all while staying true to their trusted, recognisable brand.

We were asked to create a multi-purpose packaging solution that would be durable enough for transport and events, attractive enough to catch attention, and versatile enough to function as both merchandise packaging and donation collectors.

Branded Butted Tubes – Durable, Functional, and On-Brand

Working in close collaboration with RNLI, we developed a bespoke range of printed butted tubes that balanced strength with brand consistency. Built for repeated handling and nationwide distribution, each tube was manufactured using thick white cardboard with rolled edges for added durability and clean presentation.

Key specifications included:

  • Base size: 200mm (H) × 130mm (D)
  • Upper lid section: 75mm high
  • Integrated coin slot in the lid, added via precision die-cutting
  • Full CMYK print to showcase RNLI’s bold branding and colours
  • Multipurpose design — ideal for holding branded goods or collecting donations

These tubes were engineered to serve as both storage for t-shirts, keyrings, or other merchandise and as fundraising containers, making them a smart, space-saving solution for charity campaigns and public-facing events.

Assembly, Fulfilment & Nationwide Rollout

Once production was complete, our fulfilment team took over to carefully assemble each unit. A foam base insert was added to ensure merchandise remained secure and presentable, reinforcing RNLI’s commitment to quality and presentation.

After packing, the tubes were labelled, boxed, and shipped to RNLI stations and retail points across the UK. The final product not only supported RNLI’s fundraising goals but also:

  • Promoted brand visibility at events and donation points
  • Provided a functional and reusable container for future campaigns
  • Showcased how luxury cardboard tubes can be adapted for non-profit use

This project proved that high-quality, sustainable packaging isn’t just for luxury retail — it’s also a powerful tool for charities, helping to unify branding, streamline operations, and engage supporters in meaningful ways.
