England regain the Ashes

Despite a poor performance at the Oval, England’s victory in the Ashes has provided a timely boost to English cricket. Coming so soon after the Kevin Pietersen and Peter Moores saga, this test series that has mirrored the roller coaster highs and lows of England cricket in 2015 has ended on a high; and, with the help of its sponsor, Waitrose, raised the commercial prospects of grassroots cricket.

Throughout the Investec Ashes series Waitrose have donated £100 for every four or six scored by England to the England & Wales Cricket Trust (EWCT) Small Grant Scheme. With 281 boundaries scored at the time of writing that represents a pretty healthy figure, giving both Waitrose and English cricket something to smile about.
