Welcome to the High Street of the Future

Google looks set to change the face of retailing

The company has opened six stores in the US showing off the latest range of consumer electronics, where customers can frolic in giant snow globes or film themselves floating in space.

Google appears to be expanding the Apple model in offering customers a new and memorable in-store experience. This comes on the back of the new Google technology which allows shoppers in situ to see ads for local retailers holding the items they are searching for, along with the price of the items. Click on the ad, the address of the nearest local stockist appears.

Which comes on the back of Google Shopping Express, which now offers customers buying in store a same-day home delivery service.

Maybe the High Street has a White Knight at last.
